So today I went to the Kanamara festival in Kawasaki. It was basically a festival dedicated to fertility, penises, and protection against AIDS. There were lots of penis shaped things including a parade and a bunch of other things as well. We took the train to the station we thought we were getting off at, but it turns out we were really 3 stops and about 40 minutes away from where we wanted to be, so it was a walk, haha.
I did upload the pictures to Facebook, but I don't know how long they'll be there before I get in trouble, I dunno, there are phallic images and whatnot. No real penises of course, but still.
Also, I changed my theme, the last one was giving me imaging problems. If I can get it back I will, but honestly this one is pretty too.
Check it out! WARNING : Contains some pictures that may not be suitable for minors, at least in America, there were tons of kids here. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2076128&id=3708410&l=d70ba19d58

That was certainly different.
I like your new picture on your blog. They are both nice.
Quite a walk you all had to take when you got off at the wrong station. You're going to be in top shape by the time you come home.

Hi, Damian.. the tram is nice, the tunnel was something too. #46 and 47 were something else.. we liked the photos, it is so strange to see phallis sculptures, a whole other culture, that is for sure.. enjoy the difference.. the food looked good. how far did you folks walk that day? did you buy some of the candy for 600 yen? this is so exciting.. love, Gram & Papa
Can't believe the number of Cherry trees around. Makes Washington's Cherry festival look puny.
Quite a festival (?) there. Looks like everyone was enjoying it though.
Keep the pictgures coming
Hi, forgot to tell you, we have the turtles down here in florida. a lot of them. we have the egrets and all kinds of birds, ibus, etc. also, I compared the flowers on the cherry trees to washington, DC. I meant cherry trees not apple blossoms.. sorry about that.. they sure are beautiful though... enjoy. Gram and papa
Hi Damian
Glad to see you tried the Katsu Kare - Josh's absolute favorite. My friends live in Kawasaki and we've been to their house there. I didn't know Kawasaki had such a festival. Most known is the Fertility Festival held annually in Nagoya - similar themes. Also glad to see you're enjoying hana-mi (flower viewing). One of my favorite sayings was something like riyu te ne hana (I never saw it written so this is phonetic) but it basically means a flower in each hand (sake in one and your girlfriend on the other) - I thought that was cute.
Glad to see you're venturing out. It really is so easy to use the train and subway system.

Wow! Some interesting things here! Everyone is so relaxed and having fun though. Odd that there is a serene shrine area right where all this is going on! But I liked the photos and you are certainly getting your fill of different cultural things!
