I took some pictures while sitting on the windowsill waiting for a test today at Kanda. You could check them out, and my first venture with Griffin to the Temple behind my dorm. Who would have known that a rather generously large temple existed merely a minute's walk away from my front door? すごかった! (Amazing!)

Just finished looking at the photos on your facebook. Really some interesting shots. Can't find your video of the "worms" you mentioned. Maybe you haven't loaded them up yet. Looking for ward to it.
How was the exam? Hope you did well. It was interesting that you were the 1st one there. That's cool.
Talk to you later, Mr. D
Hi, Damian.. those dragon flies were nice, and I did see the owl too. was this area where the bicycles are, is that the front of the school or back? what class room were you in, how did you do on the test? the room and school look like in america? the size of the room looks to be a good size too. I think those berries look like berries we get here, choke cherries? the birds like them. the tree was really big, and wouldn't have noticed that it was being supported by sticks. this temple behind your house probably does have monks living there, it was very nice and so close. the flowers and trees and monuments were really fantastic. the detail that is made into the stone work. only in Japan.. right? that ice cream waffle bar looked wonderful. did it taste good? how about the last meal, with the egg, did you put the raw egg in it. or eat it without it.? the vending machines have just about everything, I see. I think one of the flowers looked like peonies, and ferns, and maybe azeala. the place is sure beautiful. enjoy. keep us posted. your schools look to be beautiful and modern. is Kanda smaller than the other school? Gram and Papa
Hi Damian
Regarding picture number 96 I think you owe an explanation to your audience as to what a "honey bucket" actually is/was (mostly decorative nowadays).
When Josh and I were in Tokyo in November we had a wonderful sukiyaki (the u is mostly silent you know)dinner at the New Otani Hotel. The server went into great detail how the eggs were inspected and you don't have to worry about salmonella etc. Just can't have sukiyaki without raw egg....
Damian we have a restaurant in San Francisco that's been there since I was a kid called Tokyo Sukiyaki and they have tables with the hot plate, tatami rooms etc. So once again, another place to go when/if you visit your San Francisco relatives.

What a nice surprise to have soemthing like that shrine so close to your dorm.I really enjoyed the pictures. It's amazing how close all the graves are to each other. In Japan they have a real system to get the most out of the space they have. I'm truly amazed at how they find room for little parks & plants & flowers so close to the city. I can tell you are having the time of your life right now.
Love,
Gr.M
Hey, I liked this set of photos! Yes, I asked you alot of questions-was curious about the graveyards, etc. I think that the campus looks very nice and the shrine is cool. As far as the worms-Damian-they are catapillars-something you grew up with at home! Our trees were loaded with the same thing-only they didn't look like that type. We still had the same amount in each web/cocoon or whatever it is they are in. Anyway, I laughed at how they really bothered you-I was surprised! If you really find out what they are let us all know-we would like to find out since you were so disgusted with them! Ha! Hope you are having a great time-it certainly sounds like it!
Love, Mom
